Commission-free means the platform takes no percentage of your orders. With Chefzi you pay A$17 or A$36 a month excluding GST and nothing per order, however busy you get. The only other cost is standard Stripe card processing if you take card payments online.
Commission vs flat fee
At 30%, A$10,000 a month in delivery-app sales costs A$3,000. A flat fee stays the same whether you take 50 orders or 5,000. Try the commission calculator.
Commission-free doesn't mean leaving the apps
Keep Uber Eats or DoorDash for new customers, and send regulars to your own page with a flyer in the bag, a QR code at the counter and the link on Google.

What "commission-free" should mean
Some "commission-free" products add a per-order fee, a percentage "platform fee", or a booking fee charged to the customer. Commission-free should mean no percentage of your sales goes to the ordering provider. Card processing still applies, because banks and card schemes charge for every card payment. Chefzi charges a flat monthly fee, takes 0% of each order and adds no per-order fee. Plans sold as free deserve the same checks, and our guide to free online ordering systems lists the questions to ask.
Where the savings come from
At the apps' published Australian rates (checked 27 October 2026), a delivered order costs 30% on Uber Eats or DoorDash, and pickup costs 8% on Uber Eats or 15% on DoorDash. Every repeat customer who orders direct instead saves that amount.
Commission vs a flat fee: worked examples
Commission grows with every order; a flat fee doesn't. These use the apps' published Australian rates (read 27 Oct 2026), before GST and card fees.
| Monthly sales through the channel | At 30% (app delivers) | At 8% (Uber Eats pickup) | On your own Chefzi page |
|---|---|---|---|
| A$2,000 | A$600 | A$160 | A$0 commission + A$36 a month ex GST |
| A$5,000 | A$1,500 | A$400 | A$0 commission + A$36 a month ex GST |
| A$10,000 | A$3,000 | A$800 | A$0 commission + A$36 a month ex GST |
Card processing applies on every channel. On Chefzi, card payments go through Stripe at standard Stripe fees, paid to your restaurant's own account. Chefzi is A$17 a month ex GST for cash or pay-at-counter orders, or A$36 with online card payments (pricing) and try your own numbers in the commission calculator.
Commission-free pricing models in Australia
| Model | How you pay | Check for |
|---|---|---|
| Flat monthly fee (Chefzi: A$17 or A$36 ex GST) | One fee per location, unlimited orders, no per-order fee | Contract length; what's included |
| Percentage "platform fee" | A small % of each order instead of a monthly fee | It still grows with sales, so it's a commission by another name |
| Diner-paid fee | A fee added at checkout for the customer | Customers see a higher total than at your counter |
| "Free" plan | Paid add-ons or per-transaction fees | See our free online ordering guide |

What "commission-free" really means
- No percentage to the software company. You still pay card processing (Stripe AU: 1.65% + A$0.30 for domestic cards, inc GST).
- Watch for diner fees. Some platforms add a "service" or "platform" fee to the customer's bill instead of charging you.
- Watch for usage fees. A small fee per order (such as Bopple's 1.64% + $0.10) isn't called commission, but it works like one.
- Delivery isn't included. You use your own drivers, or pay a delivery service per trip.
For every published app rate with sources, see the AU delivery-app commission report (October 2026).
What you'd save
| Monthly direct orders | At 30% app commission | Flat fee + Stripe (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| A$5,000 | A$1,500 | A$36 + about A$125 |
| A$10,000 | A$3,000 | A$36 + about A$250 |
Assumes a A$35 average order. App commission includes delivery, so compare carefully if you deliver. Try the calculator.
The delivery apps sell direct ordering too
Uber Eats Webshop is published at 6% for pickup or self-delivery, and 25% with Uber delivery. DoorDash Online Ordering charges no commission but has a card fee of 1.75% + A$0.30 (both pages read 27 October 2026). These can suit venues already on the apps. Compare them with a flat fee at your volume, and check who owns the customer data.

Frequently asked questions
Is there really no commission?
Yes. Chefzi takes 0% of every order. Card processing fees from Stripe still apply to online card payments.
Is any online ordering really commission-free?
Yes, many flat-fee systems take no percentage of orders. You still pay card processing to the payment provider, and some platforms add fees to the customer's bill, so check both.
What is the cheapest commission-free ordering system in Australia?
Ressto lists a free plan, and Tablewick, Bite and Chefzi start at around A$17–A$19 (Bite charges weekly). The cheapest overall depends on your card fees, volume and the features you need.
Does Uber Eats have a commission-free option?
Uber Eats Webshop is published at 6% for pickup or self-delivery and 25% with Uber delivery, so it is lower-commission rather than commission-free. DoorDash Online Ordering has no commission but charges a card processing fee.
Is commission-free ordering really free of fees?
No ordering system is free of card fees. With Chefzi there is no commission and no per-order fee: you pay a flat monthly fee, plus standard Stripe fees on card payments.
Is there a limit on orders with a flat fee?
Not with Chefzi. Every plan has unlimited orders, month to month, with no setup fee.
Is it cheaper to order directly from the restaurant?
Often, yes. Marketplace apps charge venues commission, and many venues pass some of it on through higher in-app prices. Prices are set by each venue, so compare their own page with the app.
