Food supplier ordering systems for Australian restaurants and cafés
Updated 2026-10-27
Checked 27 October 2026. A food supplier ordering system replaces phone calls, texts and late-night voicemails to suppliers with one app. You see the catalogue and prices, place orders (including standing orders), and invoices flow into your accounting software.
The main platforms in Australia
| Platform | What it says it offers venues | Cost to venues |
|---|---|---|
| Ordermentum | 1,000+ suppliers across 25 categories, live pricing, standing orders and SMS reminders, Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks integration; says 50,000 venues use it | Free for venues; paid Pro tier (price not published on the page we read) |
| FoodByUs | Wholesale marketplace (16+ categories), supplier price comparison, menu costing, invoice capture, user permissions, cashback deals | Not stated on the pages we read |
| Upstock | Order from any supplier (on Upstock or not), approved shopping lists for staff, in-app messages, order tracking | Not stated on the buyer page we read |

What to look for
- Your existing suppliers. Check your top five are on the platform, or that you can order from them through it anyway.
- Standing orders for milk, bread and produce, plus cut-off-time reminders.
- Accounting sync with Xero or MYOB, so invoices don't get typed in twice.
- Price tracking to spot supplier price rises before they eat your margin.
- Staff controls: approved lists and spend limits.
Link it to your menu prices
Supplier prices feed straight into food cost. When a key ingredient goes up, re-check the dish using our menu pricing guide. Remember that delivery-app commission comes off the top of those same margins (see the calculator). For the rest of your stack, read restaurant software in Australia.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ordermentum free for venues?
Ordermentum says it is free for all venues, with a paid Pro tier that adds approvals, shared carts, Xero invoice sync and price tracking (read 27 October 2026).
Can I order from suppliers who aren't on the platform?
Upstock says you can order from any of your suppliers through it, even if they aren't on Upstock yet. Ordermentum Pro lists placing orders with any supplier.
Is this the same as online ordering for customers?
No. Supplier ordering is how you buy stock. Customer online ordering is how diners buy from you. See our online ordering system page for that.
